Khadga Jeet Baral Magar (born 1928, Kangada, India) is a Nepalese politician and diplomat. He is a retired Inspector General of Police); he served as ambassador from Nepal to Burma, as a member of the U.N., and is a former Member of Parliament.
His father, Bahadur Singh Baral, served in the First Gorkha Rifles of the British Indian Army.[1] Both of them were keen football players. Since his father was in military service, Baral had the opportunity to study in different schools in India. He graduated from Agra University, and obtained his MA from Patna University.[1]
He joined the Nepal Police, the first academic graduate to join the organization, in 1956. He advanced to the position of Police Chief. He became the Nepalese Ambassador to Burma (Myanmar) after his retirement from the police.
He is credited for importing Judo from Japan in 1966. He was president of Nepal Judo Association for six years. He promoted the standards of Hockey in Nepal by bringing in two Pakistani Hockey players.[1]
Baral Magar makes his home in Maharajganj, Kathmandu, Nepal. He has been playing golf five days a week at the Gokarna Forest Course, Kathmandu.
